Feel like a wizard when you make your gin change from blue to pink…
If ever you were looking for something a little quirky, a little different or an unusual gift – we have it! A colour changing gin from the Sharish range has come to our shelves and we think its bloody fantastic!
A bright blue Portuguese gin – the magnificent colour comes from extracts of a flower known as blue pea, and when you mix the gin with tonic, it turns pink! Botanicals also include juniper, coriander, angelica root, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, lemon peel, strawberry and raspberry.
With strong raspberry and strawberry notes on the nose it is a delight for the senses as well as the eyes. The palate is quite spicy at first with cinnamon and ginger coming through followed by waves of lemon and angelica as the taste develops. Finally there is another burst of juicy berry notes towards the end with a juniper and coriander finish.
I know what you are thinking – it’s a gimmick – but we kid you not, as well as the colour changing element being a natural reaction the liquid itself is premium quality and absolutely delicious – certainly a must have addition to your drinks cabinet.
Sharish gin is produced in Alentejo by António Cuco and their blue magic gin’s unique ingredient is the flower mentioned earlier, full name, Clitoria Ternatea and it is this that gives the Gin a blue tone without the use of artificial colouring.
We have it in stock now and it may be featuring in our upcoming experimental gin tasting evenings, so keep your eyes peeled for more dates on our website.
So if you are not a run-of-the-mill gin type, give this little gem a try.
